Short time extremal response to step stimulus for a single cell E. coli

چکیده
After application of a step stimulus, in the form sudden change attractant environment, receptor activity and tumbling bias an {\sl E. coli} cell sharply to reach their extremal values before they gradually relax post-stimulus adapted levels long time limit. We perform numerical simulations exact calculations investigate short response cell. For both bias, we exactly derive condition for find good agreement with simulations. also make experimentally verifiable prediction that there is optimum size stimulus at which reached shortest possible time.

Analysis and Design of Stimulus Response Curves of E. coli
Metabolism and signalling are tightly coupled in bacteria. Combining several theoretical approaches, a core model is presented that describes transcriptional and allosteric control of glycolysis in Escherichia coli. Experimental data based on microarrays, signalling components and extracellular metabolites are used to estimate kinetic parameters. A newly designed strain was used that adjusts th...
متن کاملReal-time single-cell response to stiffness.
Living cells adapt to the stiffness of their environment. However, cell response to stiffness is mainly thought to be initiated by the deformation of adhesion complexes under applied force. In order to determine whether cell response was triggered by stiffness or force, we have developed a unique method allowing us to tune, in real time, the effective stiffness experienced by a single living ce...
متن کاملSingle-cell E. coli response to an instantaneously applied chemotactic signal.
In response to an attractant or repellant, an Escherichia coli cell controls the rotational direction of its flagellar motor by a chemotaxis system. When an E. coli cell senses an attractant, a reduction in the intracellular concentration of a chemotaxis protein, phosphorylated CheY (CheY-P), induces counterclockwise (CCW) rotation of the flagellar motor, and this cellular response is thought t...
متن کاملHow much territory can a single E. coli cell control?
Bacteria have been traditionally classified in terms of size and shape and are best known for their very small size. Escherichia coli cells in particular are small rods, each 1-2 μ. However, the size varies with the medium, and faster growing cells are larger because they must have more ribosomes to make more protoplasm per unit time, and ribosomes take up space. Indeed, Maaløe's experiments on...
متن کاملA Modified Multi Time Step Integration for Dynamic Analysis
In this paper new implicit higher order accuracy (N-IHOA) time integration based on assumption of constant time step is presented for dynamic analysis. This method belongs to the category of the multi time step integrations. Here, current displacement and velocity are assumed to be functions of the velocities and accelerations of several previous time steps, respectively. This definition causes...
